POLICE BLOTTER – DECEMBER 2011

Since we always like to start with good news, We’d like to let you know that we just made final arrangements for our 7th Reunion at the Westchester Marriott! It will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012. We hope to make this one the best yet! We will send more information on this event in the near future.

We heard from Tommy Kosior that he had a complete knee replacement in July. He should be back on his feet. We look forward to seeing him at our reunion. We also heard from Vito Pesce who is looking forward to seeing everyone in September. Tommy Lydonspent six weeks in Europe which is why he missed the Golf Outing.

Way to go Anibal “Boots” Mercado on your response to the unruly drunk passenger boozing it up on the Jet Blue flight. Thanks for making the cops of the 44th Pct. continue to look good.

The Precinct had a retirement party in November which was a huge success and we congratulate those who took that first big step!

For all you snowbirds, the annual NYPD reunion is being held at the Pompano Beach Elks Club on Thursday, February 9th 2012 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. It is $35 per person and all are welcome.

We would also like to congratulation Bob Mulligan on the birth of his two new grandchildren; Robert Edward Stoiber and Brenden Cole Neda.

We send our condolences to John Oliveri on the loss of his brother Robert in December. Also to George Lippi who lost his father George and Sean MacShane who lost his father Dermott and Moe Acevedo on the loss of his daughter, Gabrielle.

Once again, the Annual 44 Christmas Get Together at O’Casey’s was terrific. Always a huge turnout - and if you were there in the 1980’s, 1990’s or 2000’s you should make plans to attend the next one! Once again much thanks to the chairperson’s Kevin Greaney, Brad Popowitz, Sean MacShane and Brian Kennedy for another job well done!

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Alan and Debra Willms for all the work they did on our cruise to Bermuda back in April! And to also thank them for their contribution to the 44 Forever Club. A total of 38 members, family, and friends went! Another cruise is in the very early planning stages. We’ll keep you posted.

Did you know that 3 of our members have written books recently?

John Timoney – Beat Cop To Top Cop

Kevin Clark – The Saigon Tangent

Adriana Resto – Pure Venom

PICTURES! PICTURES! PICTURES!

We would love for those of you that have photographs of you or any of us in uniform! Send us in those old photos and we’ll duplicate them. We’ll gladly send back the originals to you if you can’t scan and email them.

Keep your membership information up to date. New address? New phone number? New email? Please let us know! Include it with your annual dues and raffle returns.

Have something you want to tell us? We love to hear from you! Share your success, your family announcements, births, weddings, graduations, etc.

Last Roll call: Joseph Torelli, Norman Simon, Noel Creaney, Timothy Sheahan, George Pagano, Charles Stumberger, Carmen Velez – Martinez, Bill Larkin, and Kevin Tierney.

We’re taking the liberty of enclosing two 50/50 raffle tickets in the amount of $10/each. The raffle will be drawn at our 7th Reunion. Since we always include a self addressed envelope for dues, we would like to use this opportunity to get a jump start on the raffle.

**Dues for 2012 are $10.00**

Please take a moment to check your mailing label, as it will tell you the year you have paid your membership dues through. If you see a “0”, you are a life member and owe nothing.

Example: If the label says 2010, this means you are paid through that year. You would now owe dues for 2011 and 2012 = $20.00.

Don’t forget to keep in mind the following events coming up:

           · Trek up 5th Avenue on March 17th
